The Power of Sleeping In (And Why I Should’ve Done It Sooner)

Hello Reader,

You ever make one tiny change and then wonder why you didn’t do it sooner? Yeah, me too.

For the longest time, I was dragging myself through the mornings, running on fumes and sheer willpower (which, let’s be honest, is not a renewable resource). I told myself, This is just how it is with chronic illness. But then—almost on accident—I started doing something different.

Instead of forcing myself to wake up at a “reasonable” time, I let myself sleep until my body naturally woke up (outside of days with appointments). No alarms, no guilt. Just trusting that my body knew what it needed.

And you know what? My energy levels improved. Like, noticeably. I wasn’t spending half the morning in that groggy, barely-functional state. My brain worked better. My body didn’t feel like it was fighting against me as hard. And that endless cycle of pushing-crashing-recovering? It slowed down.

Now, I know not everyone has the luxury of waking up without an alarm, but this small shift showed me something important: sometimes, the smallest adjustments—ones that honor our bodies instead of working against them—can change everything.

What’s one tiny change you’ve made lately?

I’d love to hear what’s been helping you! Hit reply and let me know. Or, if you haven’t made one yet, think about a small shift you could make to support your energy. It might just surprise you.

But after years of pushing through exhaustion to drive my mom to appointments—while my own body was screaming for rest—I hit a breaking point. When my dad stepped in, I felt relief… and then guilt. But here’s what I learned: boundaries are

If noise makes your flare days worse (or if your nervous system just wants to scream when the world gets loud), these are a lifesaver. Loop Quiet earplugs help muffle all that extra sound without making you feel like you’re in a sensory deprivation tank. They’re soft, comfy, and—bonus—they actually look cute instead of medical or clunky. I wear mine when I need to rest, during migraines, or when the world is just… a lot.

If you deal with sensory overload, noise-triggered anxiety, or just want a little peace and quiet—these are worth checking out."
