Holding Joy and Fear at the Same Time

Hey Reader,

If you’re feeling like life is throwing way too much at you lately… just know you’re not the only one sitting under that avalanche.

Right now, my body is basically doing the medical version of, “How many problems can we stack before she loses it?”

(Spoiler: It’s a lot.)

Between degenerative discs, spinal stenosis (hi, random pain shooting down my left leg), kidney issues that have gotten a little too cozy with the phrase “kidney failure,” a million (give or take) blood draws, and now needing a kidney biopsy — it’s a lot.

Oh, and a fun little bonus round: we’re also packing up and moving at the end of May. Because apparently my life needed more plot twists this season.

I’ve got a pain management appointment this week for my back, and this time, it’s not just more “advice.”

I’m scheduled to get an injection to (hopefully) calm down some of the nerve pain and give me a little breathing room.

Honestly, I’m praying it gives me even a tiny bit of relief — because right now, my left leg feels like it’s auditioning for some kind of pain Olympics I never signed up for.

(If you think of me this week, I’d love a quick prayer or some good vibes sent my way.) 🖤

Here’s what I want to say, if you’re living your own version of chaos right now:

You are not failing because you’re overwhelmed.

You are not weak because your body is struggling.

You are not broken because you’re tired of having to be strong.

Sometimes life gets really messy and really scary — and really, really heavy to carry when you live with chronic illness.

You don’t have to pretend it’s not hard. You don’t have to put a positive spin on it for anybody else. You’re allowed to just be in the middle of it.

(And if you need someone sitting with you in the messy middle? I’m here.)

Better days will come.

Maybe not perfect days.

Maybe not even “normal” days.

But days where you breathe a little easier.

Days where the light feels a little closer.

Days where you remember that even in the chaos, you are still wildly worthy and wildly loved.

And in the meantime? We’ll take it one appointment, one move, one messy step at a time. Together.

Cheering you on (and maybe crying a little right alongside you),
